Are you still hanging in there with me?  I’m sure you are.  OK, it’s almost time to start your new journey but you need to do one more thing before you begin; you need to assemble a support team.

STEP FOUR:
Gather the troops.

Now what I am saying here may seem overwhelming and somewhat undoable but I assure you, it is not.  Simply make a list of all your friends and family whom you trust to give you good advice and honest feedback.  If there is no one, then seek out former business associates and coworkers.  If there is still no one (unlikely but possible) then go to the local bookstore and purchase a couple of books on how to make wise employment/career decisions.  It has been said by many including Robert Kiyosaki (RICH DAD POOR DAD), and I totally agree, that books can be great mentors.

OK, assuming that you have at least one person you can count on for advice, contact that person and ask her/him to serve as an advisor during your job search.  Assure him/her that you will respect any time constraints she/he may have.  Tell him/her to be completely honest with you and that you will not be offended by anything she/he may say.  Promise to always listen to his/her opinions with an open mind.  Does this make sense to you?

Take it from me, no matter the path, it is best to never walk alone.

Mark
