Q & A: Text Messaging using Mobile Speak, The Samsung Blackjack II Smartphone, and Windows Mobile 6.1

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Question:
With wm6.1 when I am in a text message and I have a fairly long stream going is there a way to get to the bottom or last reply quickly?

Answer:
Although this has not been officially sanctioned by Code Factory, to skip to the bottom of a long SMS thread, as MSS begins reading the thread from top to bottom, repeatedly tap the down arrow key to quickly jump through the thread.  Alternatively, once you tap the down arrow key once, you may hold the key down and, depending upon your profile settings, a beep will indicate when you have reached the end of the thread.  (more…)

An Updated Review of Mobile Speak on the Samsung Epix SGH-i907 (Blackjack 3) Smartphone

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Hello Everyone,

The following link will take you to my revised review of the Samsung Epix SGH-907 Smartphone when access with Code Factory’s Mobile Speak software for the blind and low vision.

In short, I would say that 80% of the Epix phone features are screen reader accessible.  I definitely recommend this phone for Mobile Speak Pocket PC intermediate and advanced users as well as technology early-adopters.

A special thanks to Mr. Chris Polk for teaching me the finer points of Mobile Speak for Pocket PC which made this revised review possible.

“Chris, I owe you one, Man!”

Most Sincerely,

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

INTRODUCTION
So why does Yahoo, MSN, and countless other free web based email providers allow SMS alerts to be sent to your mobile phone upon receipt of a new message in your Inbox and gMail does not?  Inquiring minds really want to know.

At the time of this post, there is no specific setting to enable SMS Alerts from the gMail Inbox.

However, there is a way to have gMail notify you via SMS and it’s oh-so-easy:   (more…)

CRY FOR ME
By Mark Marcus
(Saturday, October 25, 2008)

1.
Cry for me.

Will you not cry for me?

Why do you not cry for me?

I have seen you cry for the brave, the bold, and the blundering who do nothing but blame you for their misdeeds.

I have seen you cry for the rancorous, the vicious, and the wicked who only seek to destroy you.

Often have I seen you cry for the rich, the famous, the beautiful, and the well-to-do.

Though rarely, I have even seen you cry for the downtrodden, the peacemaker, and the innocent.

You readily cry for yourself at each opportunity, be it self made or self-fulfilling, of which I do not know.  (more…)

Seven Ways to Make Water Taste Better
By Jen Laskey

Simple tips for livening up your drinking water

Not everybody has a taste for water, but we all need it to ensure that our bodies continue functioning properly. If you want to drink more water, but aren’t crazy about the taste (or lack thereof), here are some tips that can make it more enjoyable:

1.
Add fresh fruit. Citrus fruits, such as lemons, limes, and oranges, are classic water enhancers, but other fruit flavors might also tempt your taste buds. Try crushing fresh raspberries or watermelon into your water, or adding strawberry slices. Cucumber and fresh mint are refreshing flavors as well — especially in summer. (more…)

Q & A: Obtaining Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrade Files and Installation Instructions for the Samsung Blackjack II Smartphone

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Question:
SO I’ve read over all the steps and instructions for the upgrade to 6.1 and feel comfortable with things so I think i can handle going through the process. But I’m not sure what exactly i need to download if I were to go to the download link which is shown on the Samson site page with the instructions. It said to click the link and then click the file set-up.exe i believe that’s supposed to be on the page which I was rerouted to. But I’m not seeing anything. I see a few files but I’m not sure if I need to download all of them or only one of them, and if i need only one, which one to get?

 Answer:
You only need to download the files that are for the operating system installed on your computer.  See the following three links which will take you to where you need to go.  (more…)

Q & A: Welcome Back Baby to the Blackjack II Side of Town, Tips for Purchasing Your First Mobile Phone

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Question:
Why do you say to buy from an AT&T Wireless corporate store and not an authorized reseller like Best Buy?

Answer:
The answer to this question is much too nebulous to distill down into a few sentences.  Suffice me to say that, where a novice customer is concerned, it is sound advice, to be sure.

Question:
I’m glad you kept telling me to read the directions.  I do web design, and know how computers can be a pain.  I also know how to take the cim card out, but will i get a cim card if i buy the phone with out a contract?  (more…)

Hello Everyone,
