(Yeah!  I know, it’s a long title)

Hello Everyone, 

Thanks to Google Mobile-Sync, anyone can now bring the coveted Microsoft Exchange synchronization functionality to virtually any Smartphone that has a copy of Microsoft ActiveSync.

In short, now you can wirelessly synchronize Calendar data, Contacts, and more between your Smartphone and your online Google account.

OK, to get started, do the following: 

NOTE 1:
This document presumes that you have a free Google I.D.

NOTE 2:
This document presumes that you have setup at least one free gMail account.

NOTE 3:
This document presumes that you have setup at least one free Google Calendar.

NOTE 4:
It is strongly recommended that you have an unlimited data plan in place with your Wireless Service Provider before synchronizing your phones’ data with your online Google account.

NOTE 5:
While Google Mobile-Sync currently supports the iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian and other platforms, this document provides instructions for setting up Windows Mobile devices, only.  To learn how to setup non-Windows Mobile Wireless devices, Click Here.

NOTE 6:
The following steps were taken directly from Google Mobile-Sync.

NOTE 7:
Make sure that you have backed up any Contacts and Calendars from your phone to your computer before proceeding.

1.
Open the Active Sync application on your device’s home screen.

2.
Click the link Set up your device to sync with it.

NOTE 8 (From Mark):
From within ActiveSync, from the Shortcut Menu, select Add Server Source.

3.
NOTE 9 (From Mark):
You may ignore the email Edit Box.  Also, choose to not automatically search for server settings.  Tap the phone’s Right-Soft key to continue.

Enter m.google.com as the server address.

4.
Ensure that the SSL option is checked.

5.
Click Next.

6.
Enter your full Google Account email address as the User name.

7.
Enter your Google Account password as the Password.

8.
Leave the Domain field empty. If your device requires you to enter a domain name, enter google.

9.
Click Next.

10.
Check only Contacts and Calendar.

11.
Click Finish.

12.
Press the Sync softkey on the left to synchronize.
 
You’ve now set up Google Sync for your Windows Mobile device.

TIP:  If your business, school, or organization uses Google Apps, your administrator will first need to enable ActiveSync before you can take advantage of this feature.
