Hello My Fellow Jazzy JAWS Justices,

I am happy to report that Microsoft Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate) Build 7100, is comfortably accessible with Freedom Scientific’s JAWS v10.x, a screen reading software solution for the blind.

The following are the steps I suggest you follow in order to successfully activate a licensed copy of JAWS on your Windows 7 RC computer:

1.
After the successful installation of Windows 7 RC onto your PC (In my case, an Acer Aspire One NetBook), from the Start Menu, launch the User Account Control Panel.

2.
Select the User Account Control button.

3.
Set the Security level to 0 (effectively disabling the UAC).

4.
Install JAWS v10.x or later.

5.
Activate the JAWS license.  Note, if you choose to activate your license via the Internet, you may receive a Windows Firewall Alert.  If this happens, select to allow the program to install any drivers, keys, etc.

6.
With the UAC disabled, reboot your Windows 7 RC computer.

7.
After rebooting the computer, confirm that JAWS is running as a licensed copy as opposed to the 40 minute DEMO mode.

8.
Return to the User Account Control Panel and enable the UAC by restoring its security setting to its previous level.

Enjoy,

Mark
