Hello My Fellow Mobile Moguls,

Sometimes, especially after mistakenly updating the Pocket Media Player library to include every single sound file on your Windows Mobile device, you simply want to start the Media Library indexing process over again without having to hard-reset your wireless device, causing loss of user data.

To accomplish this, do the following:

NOTE 1:
This document assume that your wireless device is connected to your computer via a USB cable and that you will be using ActiveSync, Windows Mobile Device Center, or Device Stage to browse and modify files.

1.
Set your Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders.

2A:
For the media library located on the wireless device, itself, browse to:  [Application Data/Microsoft/Media Player] and delete the file labeled “XMEMediaLibrary.mlb”.

2B:
For the media library located on the wireless device optional storage card, browse to:
[Storage Card/MSMETADATA] and delete the file labeled “XMEMediaLibrary.mlb”.

NOTE 2:
If, after deleting, you create an empty file with the filename, listed above, the next time you launch Pocket Media Player, it will inform you that the file is corrupted and propose to rebuild it.

NOTE 3:
Before adding any media to the Pocket Media Player Library, I strongly suggest that you make a backup of the file, listed above, so that should it become necessary, you may quickly and easily restore the library to its original state.

Enjoy,

Mark
