Hello All,

I have recently become a huge fan of both the CVS Pharmacy website and, more importantly to me, the CVS iOS App.

As an F.Y.I., in the area in which I live, there are over 11 CVS Pharmacies staffed with some of the nicest pharmacists and pharmacy technicians I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.  These people really care about their customers.

I am posting this to let you know that the CVS Pharmacy iOS app is marvelously accessible via VoiceOver, Apples’ software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision.

For the first time in my life, I can independently access and manage all of my prescriptions with confidence and privacy.

To iOS VoiceOver users, whether you’re a new customer or a dedicated, longtime fan of the company, grab the app, setup an online account via either the app or their website and enjoy.

A heart-felt thanks to CVS Pharmacy for making medicine more manageable for the blind and low vision.

Hello All,

I am absolutely in love with the Passbook App and Apple Pay feature on my iPhone 6 Plus.

The number of brick & mortar stores in my area that accept Apple Pay transactions via the NFC protocol is relatively high.  As a result, I find myself using my iPhone to make purchases at least once a week, sometimes even more.   Read the rest of this entry »

Hello My Fellow Train Trekking Travelers,

For awhile now, I’ve been searching for a good free Amtrak train horn audio file for use as either a ring tone or notification sound on my Smartphone.

Failing to locate such a file, I decided to create one, myself.

Actually, the file I am making available to you in this post, in my opinion, serves better as a notification sound rather than a ring tone but, as is all things, the choice is up to you.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hello My Fellow Apple-orchard Dwellers,

What is an Apple ID?  An Apple ID is your user name for everything you do with Apple: Shop the iTunes Store, enable iCloud on all your devices, buy from the Apple Online Store, make a reservation at an Apple Retail Store, access the Apple Support website, and more.

Although I continue to be amazed at the ever increasing level of accessibility Apple Inc. affords its physically challenged customers, and although I use both my Macintosh computers and iOS devices more than any other, on a daily basis, when it comes to providing serious online data such as credit card information, billing and shipping addresses, answers to security questions, etc I prefer to use my good-old Windows PC with its ever-so-familiar screen magnifier and text-to-speech engine.   Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Everyone,

In this post, I will provide the steps you need to take in order to prevent Clockwork or any custom recovery from being overwritten by factory stock-ROMs at system reboot:

DEFINITION:
Just like on a desktop computer, when you power on your Android device, several things happen before the system is loaded.  These “things” take place in what is essentially the BIOS of the phone, tablet, etc.   Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Everyone,

The following is the full and uncensored manifesto of Christopher Jordan Dorner.

I know most of you who personally know me are in disbelief to hear from media reports that I am suspected of committing such horrendous murders and have taken drastic and shocking actions in the last couple of days. You are saying to yourself that this is completely out of character of the man you knew who always wore a smile wherever he was seen. I know I will be villified by the LAPD and the media. Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil that I do not enjoy but must partake andcomplete for substantial change to occur within the LAPD and reclaim my name. The department has not changed since the Rampart and Rodney King days. It has gotten worse. The consent decree should never have been lifted. The only thing that has evolved from the consent decree is those officers involved in the Rampart scandal and Rodney King incidents have since promoted to supervisor, commanders, and command staff, and executive positions.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Everyone,

I accidentally deleted the original question that was posted on this subject but I want to offer an answer regarding how blind and low vision iOS 6.0 users can work with photos received via SMS.

NOTE 1:
VoiceOver is Apple’s software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision.

NOTE 2:
This document assumes that VoiceOver users are familiar with basic VoiceOver gestures.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hello All,

I am delighted to report that with the release of Apple’s iOS 6.0, Siri enabled devices such as iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, can now dial Contacts whose telephone numbers contain special symbols, such as those used to selectively display Caller ID on the AT&T Wireless network.

Although I do not recommend it, AT&T Wireless customers can now send text messages to telephone numbers containing the Display Caller ID symbols, as well.

The following are updated instructions that describe how to implement selective Caller ID on the AT&T Wireless network:  Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Everyone,

NOTE 1:
I just returned from over 90 minutes of using the iOS 6.0 Maps App, via VoiceOver (Apple’s software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision), on my iPhone 4 S running iOS 6.0.  I am extremely tired and uncomfortable as today was a particularly hot day here in southern California.  Normally, I would post my results after a rest but want to report while the experience is still fresh in my mind.  So, if the following comes across as curt, please accept my apology; I just want to get the facts, as I experienced them, to you.   Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Everyone,

You know, when Apple announced Passbook, I thought, among other things, one would be able to take whatever store reward cards, currently in one’s possession, such as those issued by CVS Pharmacy, Kroger, The Vitamin Shoppe, etc, and either scan them into the App or enter any ID numbers that were associated with the Rewards card into the App.  This is the case with one of my favorite free Apps called Key Ring.   Read the rest of this entry »
