I am delighted to introduce a small and easy-to-use free bookkeeping
application for your Windows Mobile Smart Phone called Keep Saving. This program
is accessible to the visually impaired via Mobile Speak for Smart Phones.
Simply put, Keep Saving is a personal bookkeeper. It will help you keep track of
your day-to-day financial transactions and, allow you to categorize them.
Click Here to download version 2.1.
1.
Copy the file you just downloaded to your Windows Mobile Smart Phone via ActiveSync or the Windows Vista Mobile Center.
2.
On your Windows Mobile Smart Phone, via File Explorer, launch the installation program. Doing this will cause Windows Mobile to automatically install the utility and, afterwards, delete the originally downloaded file from your phone.
This program is comfortably accessible with MSS version 2.0 or later. I
suggest that you interact with the application in the Advanced Reading keyboard
layout mode of Mobile Speak.
Note: Before you begin, familiarize yourself with the Active Element command in
the Advanced Reading keyboard layout mode (Home+*) and the Review Cursor found
in the Default keyboard layout mode (Home+3).
Launch the Keep Saving program from your phone’s Start menu. MSS will begin
reading the display screen. You will discover the following elements:
Line 1: Current Date and Time. (Accessible with Review Cursor)
Line 2: Operation field. This is a list box containing two choices, “withdraw”
and “deposit”.
Line 3: Amount Edit field followed by a currency list box. The default currency
is USD.
Please note that as you press the Down Arrow key from line two in Advanced
Reading mode, MSS will not speak. Note: It may be necessary to use your phone’s
Function key to enter a decimal point in your dollar amounts for example, 1.25.
Depending upon your device, you may need to toggle the Function key in order to
expedite digit entry. To confirm you are in the amount edit field, simply press
[Home+*]. To move to the currency list box, press the Down Arrow key, again, and
you will hear MSS say “USD” which is the program’s default currency.
Line 4: Category. There is only one default category called Main. You may create
additional categories.
Line 5: Transaction Description text box. As you press the Down Arrow key from
line 4, MSS will not speak. Pressing [Home+*] will cause MSS to say “Spell
Edit”. You may enter a transaction description. Pressing the Down Arrow key from
this edit box will cause the highlight bar to wrap around to the top of the
screen.
1.
Select the type of transaction.
2.
Enter the transaction amount. Note: It is not necessary to enter a decimal point
when entering whole numbers for example, to enter twenty-five dollars type in
“25”.
3.
Select the currency.
4.
Select a category.
5.
Enter a transaction description. (Optional)
6.
Press the Left Soft Key labeled “Apply”.
Note, unless you change the program’s input mode to Multiple Entries, found by
pressing the Right Soft Key while the application is running, pressing the
“Apply” button will enter the transaction, and cause Keep Saving to close,
taking you back to the Today screen. This is very convenient especially when you
wish to quickly enter a transaction.
Finally, to see a list of your transaction and view your current account
balance, from the application menu, select Summary.
