Well, how are you doing? Have you been experiencing bouts of depression? If so, don’t worry; it will pass. You’ve been fired or laid-off unexpectedly so, however you feel, it’s OK.
Assuming that you’ve informed everyone who “needs to know†about your termination, now what?Â
What I am about to say may sound shocking but, nevertheless, I’m saying it. What I want you to do now is absolutely nothing.
STEP THREE:
Take 5 (five) “work days†off.Â
Yes, that’s right; take some time off for yourself. You’re at the crossroads now and the decisions you make in the next few weeks will shape the rest of your life. You need to stop for a moment and reflect on who you are and what you want out of life. This is a very important time in your life. Who knows, this could be your “shining hourâ€; do not dim the “light†by making hasty decisions that are merely the result of “reaction†rather than “pro-actionâ€.Â
There are many government agencies and charities that help out with emergency situations for the unemployed–especially where a dependent family is involved. Find them.  Â
Apply for your unemployment benefits, ask for assistance from friends if necessary, and, most importantly, take time out to think.Â
If there is someone in your household such as a spouse or teenage child who offers to get a part-time job to “help out†then, by all means, let them. Remember, nothing makes a family stronger than by facing challenges together.Â
For you, however, do nothing but relax, pray, contemplate, gather strength, and prepare for the “battle†ahead.Â
