QUESTION:
So am I being stupid? I can’t figure out how to do an open parenthesis in the body of a text message with my Blackjack II. I can do a close paren with the second shift from the bottom and the P, but I can’t do an open! Am I missing something here?

ANSWER:
OK, I have tested your problem and confirmed the following on the Samsung Blackjack 2 running Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition with Mobile Speak for Smart Phones version 2.0:

1.
With MSS running, while composing a text message, the shortcut key command
[Function Key + “o”] (right parenthesis) is disabled.

2.
Merely stopping MSS from within the MSS control panel does not resolve this bug.

3.
In order to enable the shortcut key command for the right parenthesis, you must close all MSS associated applications from within the Windows Mobile Task Manager.  Consequently, doing this will completely deactivate Mobile Speak; however, if you could see the display screen, in which case you would not have needed MSS in the first place (Smile), you would be able to enter all the right parenthesis symbols your little heart desires.

SOLUTION/WORKAROUND:
Until Code Factory fixes this software bug, you may enter an open parenthesis in a text message by pressing and holding down the phone’s [Space Bar] button for two seconds.
This will bring up a list of forty-nine symbols from which you can make a selection.

The right parenthesis is number twenty of the forty-nine symbols.  It is located on the third row from the top and is the sixth symbol from the left.

Until Next time,

Mark
