Hello Everyone,Â
This is just a quick refresher on how to enter numbers and symbols in Windows Mobile for Smart Phones text edit fields.
There are several ways to enter numbers and symbols on your Windows Mobile Smart Phone full QWERTY keyboard while in a text edit field such as the one used to create a text message:Â
1.
You can tap the Function Key then immediately tap the corresponding letter key. For example, to enter the number five, tap the function key immediately followed by tapping the letter F. Note that number and letter associations may vary from phone model to phone model.
2.
You can lock the Function key to active mode by tapping it twice. Doing this will allow you to quickly enter a series of numbers or symbols without first having to precede each number with a tap of the Function key. This is useful, for example, when entering telephone numbers in an email message or calendar appointment. Note: In order to deactivate the Function key lock, simply tap it, one time.Â
3.
You can enter symbols into a text edit field by simply pressing and holding down the Space Bar for two seconds. Doing this will cause a grid of symbols to appear from which you may make a selection. Note that you must use your phone’s arrow keys to fully explore this grid.
4. (Recommended)
To quickly enter numbers or symbols such as the “@†symbol, while in a text edit field, press and hold down, for two seconds, the number’s or symbol’s corresponding letter key. For example, if you wish to quickly enter the @ symbol, instead of pressing the Function key immediately followed by the letter Y (Samsung Blackjack 2), merely press and hold the letter Y for two seconds and the @ symbol will be entered into the text edit field instead of the letter Y.
Note that this method works in all flavors of Windows Mobile regardless of the Smart Phone Model.Â
