Hello Everyone,
One of the nicest benefits about owning A T & T Wireless’s Samsung Blackjack 2 Windows Mobile 6 Smart Phone is that it is preinstalled with a very nice RSS (really simple syndication) feed reader.Â
NOTE
This article assumes that you are familiar with the basic functions of RSS and RSS feed aggregators. Unless modified, the initial state of the RSS application is set to passive mode as opposed to automatic mode.
IMPORTANT:
I strongly suggest that you confirm with your wireless provider that you have an unlimited data plan in place before using the RSS reader application as data transfer charges will apply.
NOTE TO MOBILE SPEAK FOR SMART PHONE USERS:
I suggest that you place MSS in Advanced Reading Mode for best results.
Follow these steps to begin using the preinstalled RSS reader on the Samsung Blackjack 2 Smart Phone:
1.
From the Start Menu, select Applications.Â
2.
Select RSS Reader.
The application opens in a tree view of a list of preinstalled news feeds. Use the phone’s Up and Down arrow keys to navigate this tree. You may remove, rename, or rearrange these feeds should you choose to do so. Of course, you can subscribe to new feeds, as well.
Please note that, at this point, on this screen, the Left Soft Key is labeled Update and the Right Soft Key is labeled Menu.Â
3.
Press the left Soft Key to update the currently selected feed. The “Feed Update†window will appear. The purpose of this window is to display the status of the update.Â
NOTE TO MOBILE SPEAK FOR SMART PHONE USERS:
In order to hear the feed update status, those using Mobile Speak for Smart Phones may initiate the Read Whole Screen command, [Home+#] as many times as they like. The feed will have been successfully updated when the “Done†button is no longer disabled.  Â
4.
Press the Left Soft Key labeled “Doneâ€. You will be returned to the initial tree view of the feeds list. From here you may either select another feed to update or view the latest articles in a feed.
5.
To open a feed in order to read its latest content, simply press the [Enter] key on your mobile phone.Â
NOTE TO MOBILE SPEAK FOR SMART PHONE USERS:
Those using MSS will hear the title of the feed followed by the words “list, no items.â€Â This is a MSS software bug. Simply tap the phone’s Down arrow key immediately followed by tapping its Up arrow key and you can then view all of the article headings in the feed correctly. You will have to do this each time you open a feed.
6.
Use the phone’s Up and Down arrow keys to scroll through the list of article headings. For best results, I strongly suggest that you check all of the checkboxes in the View menu which may be accessed via the Menu button currently assigned to the Right Soft Key.
7.
To exit an article or a feed, simply press the [Back] button on your mobile phone.
That is all there is to it.
Good luck and enjoy.
Mark
