Hello Everyone,
One very convenient way to implement “push technology†is to make use of SMS (short messaging service), also known as text messaging, alerts. If you choose to receive notifications via SMS, they will be sent to your wireless device. That is, instead of you having to go out onto the web to gather information, which can take precious time, the information you seek is sent directly to your mobile phone.
My favorite SMS Alert service is Microsoft Windows Live Alerts.Â
http://alerts.live.com.
NOTE
If you have a Hotmail (@hotmail.com), MSN (@msn.com), or Windows Live (@live.com) email address, you need not register a new account with Microsoft.
IMPORTANT:
I strongly suggest that you confirm with your wireless provider that you have an unlimited text messaging plan in place before using any SMS service as data transfer charges will apply.
NOTE
There are many popular web portals that offer SMS and email alert services including Google (http://www.google.com/alerts), Yahoo (http://alerts.yahoo.com), AOL (http://alerts.aol.com), and many, many more.
INTRODUCING WINDOWS LIVE ALERTS
The following is from the Windows Live Alerts website.
Be smart – let your information find you.
Save time hunting through stacks of papers, magazines or Web sites for the information you want. Windows Live Alerts come right to you while you get on with other things, like having a life.
Get headlines from your home town, sports scores and updates for your favorite teams, stock quotes, traffic for your local commute and just about anything that is happening right now. You pick it, so it’s the stuff you want to know about, and nothing else. There is no spam, no hidden agendas, just one hundred percent pure control.
If you are signed out of Windows Live or MSN Messenger, away from your computer, or busy with other things, you can have your Alerts sent to your email address or mobile phone.
Here are just a few of the alerts you can sign up to receive:
MSNBC
Get breaking news from across the nation and around the world.
FOX SPORTS

MSN WEATHER
