Question:
Why do you say to buy from an AT&T Wireless corporate store and not an authorized reseller like Best Buy?
Answer:
The answer to this question is much too nebulous to distill down into a few sentences. Suffice me to say that, where a novice customer is concerned, it is sound advice, to be sure.
Question:
I’m glad you kept telling me to read the directions. I do web design, and know how computers can be a pain. I also know how to take the cim card out, but will i get a cim card if i buy the phone with out a contract?Â
Answer:
You found the one instance in which purchasing a device from a non corporate store would be a better choice than the reverse. (Smile) To be honest, I have never attempted to purchase a phone without a SIM card so I do not know the answer. While I am sure an authorized retailer, such as Best Buy, will definitely sell you a device without a SIM card/wireless contract, the price of the device will be much higher as the cost will not be subsidized by any wireless provider.
Question:
If i have no contract is this going to lower the support the managers should give me?
Answer:
My only answer is that rarely have I encountered a sales person who used my purchasing status as a barometer of her/his courtesy towards me. In fact, more often than not, I find that the most rewarding business relationships I have established with sales people, over the years, are those that began not with an actual purchase but rather with an enquiry. This is one of the reasons why I always suggest doing business with a store manager rather than with a sales representative as his/her salary is not directly effected by selling you a product. Finally, it matters very little who you deal with at an authorized retailer because they usually sell so many products that they will most likely not know more about what you are purchasing than the sales representative. In fact, they are more likely to know less about the products as they have so much more inventory to manage.
