QUESTION:
Hi Mark.
I installed News Break late last night as instructed i.e. putting the cab file on the storage card and then installing! I will put in my unlock code which I have later on today. However when I started the application, it asked me what news feeds I wanted. I only wanted the BBC news but found that I couldn’t uncheck the other ones. Is there anything I’m doing wrong? Also, if I want to add podcast feeds, how would I do it please?
Hope to hear from you soon and many thanks.Â
ANSWER:
OK, here we go:
When adding a new channel/news/podcast feed in News Break,
1.
>From the application’s Channel list, tap the Right Soft key to launch
>the
Shortcut menu.
2.
Select New. A Dialog Box will open giving you 4 methods in which to add a new channel.Â
3.
Assuming that you wish to select a news/podcast feed from a list of known channels, leave the radio button on the first choice and tap the Right Soft Key in order to proceed to the next step. A nested tree style list view will appear.Â
NOTE 1:
In the current version of both Mobile Speak and NewsBreak, MSS/MSP, regardless of the actual state of the checkbox, will announce the word “check”.
NOTE 2:
Mobile Speak users should be aware that all checkboxes on this tree are initially unchecked, despite what MSS/MSP speaks.Â
4.
Tap the enter key on the mobile device to check or uncheck a checkbox. To confirm your selection, MSS/MSP users will need to use the Mobile Speak Review Cursor.
NOTE 3:
Checking or unchecking the root of any branch on the tree will set all of its sub branches to the same state.Â
NOTE 4:
Use your mobile phone’s navigation keys to move up, down, back and forth along the tree view.Â
5.
When you’re done making your selections, tap the Right Soft key to finish the Add New wizard.Â
Remember, if you already know the URL of your feeds, at step 3, listed above, select the appropriate radio button and enter the URL.
For example, to subscribe to the Candle Shore Podcast, enter:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/candleshorepodcasts
Finally, on the Shortcut menu is a submenu for Podcasts.
Don’t forget to read the NewsBreak user manual.
