Hello, My Fellow Windows 7 Early Adopters,

While I am thoroughly enjoying using the new Windows 7 on my Netbook and providing feedback to Microsoft about my Windows 7 experience, I do not enjoy, especially as a JAWS screen-reader user, seeing/hearing the Feedback Edit Tool at the top of every Dialog Box.

If, like me, you want to stop being fed Microsoft Feedback prompts in Windows 7, by disabling the Feedback Tool, do the following:

 NOTE:
You must have Administrative privileges in order to proceed.

1.
From the Desktop, press [WINDOWS KEY]+R to open the Run Edit Box.

2.
Type in “regedit” without the quote marks.  If U.A.C. is turned on, you will be prompted to confirm that you wish to proceed.  The Windows 7 Registry Editor will appear.  This editor is comprised of a tree view, in the left pane, and a list view in the right.

3.
In the tree view, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop.

4.
In the list view, on the right, locate the key labeled “Feedback Tool Enabled” and change its value to 0.

5.
Exit the Windows 7 Registry Editor and reboot the computer.

That’s all there is to it.

Enjoy,

Mark
