Hello My Fellow Speakerphone Saboteurs,

The following is a completely innocent, good-natured, and most of all congenial little “love note” I sent to my beloved Applegates:

[BEGIN LOVE NOTE]
One of the most annoying and, may I say, inconvenient features of my 3GS is the fact that if I tilt my head while on a call, using, God-forbid, the actual handset itself, the iPhone speakerphone is automatically engaged.  I know that this is supposed to be a wonderful function of iPhone being that it thinks I want to lay the phone down and share my intimately and absolutely “Top-Secret” (this is why I am talking out in public for all to hear, right?  (Smile)) conversation with the world, but, believe it or not, it’s wrong.  Sometimes I am just tilting my head because I am a “head-tilter” and sometimes, Apple, I lay the phone down because I need to use both hands for something extremely urgent like strangling a company that thinks it can anticipate my motivation for every move I make during a call.

In version 3.0 of iPhone 3GS operating system, is there anyway (hack or not) to disable the auto-speakerphone feature?

With Feelings As Sweet As Cider,

Mark
