QUESTION
Hey Mark, glad you got skype working. Well, let’s see, you’ve had the mac for about a week now, what do you think so far?
ANSWERÂ
Hello Mike,Â
Thank you for asking.Â
Well, I am absolutely loving it. I feel as though entire new “Vistas” (get
it?)Â have been opened up to me.Â
The interaction between VoiceOver/Snow Leopard and Jaws/Windows is so different.Â
While I have never driven a car, based on what I have heard from people over the years, VO is more like a stick-shift while Jaws is more like an automatic transmission. People who prefer stick-shift do so because they have more control of the automobile. I am definitely a sick-shift kind of guy. (Smile)Â
As I told a friend the other day, I have received a lot of flack from Windows people who feel I have abandoned the cause. Nothing could be further from the truth; to me, I have merely expanded my proverbial horizons.Â
While I am still taking baby steps, I am confident that Apple and Candle Shore will swim in the same ocean from now on. (Smile)Â
By the way, I purchased a La Ci rugged portable 500GB Fire Wire drive for making backups and such. This is quite an impressive device, to say the least, and I recommend it to anyone in the market for such a device..Â
Also, as I was out and about for extended periods of time this Labor Day weekend, I took my MacBook Pro along and I am happy to report that my Verizon Wireless USB Air Card functioned perfectly. The quality of this notebook is beyond belief. And, I still smile every time I use the Multi-Touch Track Pad to engage the computer with iPhone VoiceOver command gestures.Â
Oh yeah, when I was in the Apple Store last week, I was told that one can use either the iPhone 3GS or the iPod Touch as a Multi-Touch Track Pad interface with Macs that do not have a built-in multi-touch track pad by installing software from the iTunes store.

One more thing, even though I am happy with Windows 7 running as a Virtual Machine, courtesy of VM Ware, I am toying with the idea of installing windows 7 via Boot Camp, again. I think I have a solution for the audio problem. By the way, the audio problem I experienced seems to be specific to the MacBook Pro. Of course, as windows 7 has not been officially released yet, many of us are jumping the gun on this one.Â
Again, thank you for asking.Â
Most Sincerely,
Mark
