Hello Everyone,
Yesterday, at 4:30am I was in a line at my local A T & T Wireless store. I was 32nd in line. It was dark as the sun was not out but pleasant. I Learned that the first person in line had gotten their at 8:00pm the previous night.
The store opened at 8:00am sharp and, surprisingly, I was in the store by 8:20am.
I was all set to purchase a black 64GB iPhone 5.
While the sales person was reviewing my account, etc, I took a look at the display model of the device. I held it next to my 4 S and, after turning VoiceOver on, began comparing various tests such as startup time, shutdown time, display scrolling, sound quality, etc. I was truly disappointed in what I discovered.
I told the sales person to hold my iPhone 5 and help another customer while I spent some time with iPHone 5. I spent a total of 2 hours exploring the device.
In the end, I decided not to buy the phone at this time, given that I am not eligible for the full upgrade discount and the facts that I could see no discernible different in phone speed between the 5 and the 4 S. Both the sales person and I were surprised at my decision.
As I left the store, I expected to feel a pang of regret at not buying iPhone 5. To date, no such regret has been experienced (smile).
One thing I’ve noticed since upgrading to iOS 6.0 on my 4 S, however, is the massive drain on battery power in comparison to iOS 5.x. Now this could be a game changer but not quite yet.
I think I will wait to see if they fix this battery drain issue in the next/first update to iOS 6.0. If they do, great; if not, then I will definitely purchase iPhone 5.
Congratulations to all you who have iPHone 5, it is truly the best device made by Apple, so far. I may join your number but, at present, I am content to remain a lowly iPhone 4 S man (Smile).
Making a Joyful Noise,
Mark
