Wireless Phones | Comments Off on APP: An iOS Text-To-Speech Reader For Public Domain Classics | November 30th, 2010
Hello All,
The following comes to us courtesy of Fred’s Head Companion:

A TEXT-TO-SPEECH READER FOR PUBLIC DOMAIN CLASSICS ON THE IPAD
As far as iPad ebook readers go, iBooks is probably the most beautiful one, and in terms of design there are far worse looks an aspiring reader app could ape. And that’s just what vBookz did: it took iBooks’ look, adding a few flourishes like ribbon bookmarks, and gave it the gift of text-to-speech.
For those who didn’t follow Kindle text-to-speech saga, here’s the jist: authors didn’t think that buying the rights to read their ebooks necessarily gave readers the right to listen to those ebooks. It got messy. But vBookz sidesteps that whole business by including books from the Gutenberg Project, which are public domaine. Click Here for Full Article.

Wireless Phones | Comments Off on IMPORTANT: Do A Good Thing Every Time You Do A Good Search | November 29th, 2010
Hello Everyone,
We all have a cause we care about – whether it’s finding a cure for cancer, saving the environment, finding homes for abandoned pets or so many other worthwhile endeavors. But what we don’t all have is the time or money to support these efforts as much as we’d like. So, what if we could raise money for our favorite charities and schools by doing something we do every day — searching the Internet? Read the rest of this entry »

General | Comments Off on FOOD FOR THOUGHT: You Took My Place | November 24th, 2010
One day, a man went to visit a church. He got there early, parked his
Car, and got out.
Another car pulled up near the driver, got out and said, “I always park there! You took my place!”
The visitor went inside for Sunday school, found an empty seat and sat down. A young lady from the church approached him and stated, “That’s my seat! You took my place!” The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing.
After Sunday school, the visitor went into the sanctuary and sat down. another member walked up to him and said, “That’s where I always sit! You took my place!” The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment but still he said nothing.
Later, as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood up as his appearance began to change.
Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet.
Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, “What happened to you?”
The visitor replied, as his hat turned into a crown of thorns, and a tear fell from his eye, “I took your place.”

FORCE FIREFOX TO OPEN NEW TABS AT THE END
This tutorial will show you how to force Firefox to open new tabs at the end of the tab bar, rather than next to the existing open tab.
This new behavior (opening new tabs next to the current one) was introduced in Firefox 3.6. Some people like it, others don’t. If you fall into the “I want it back the way it was” camp – here’s how to change it. Read the rest of this entry »

General | Comments Off on Bacon Soda: Delicious or Disgusting | November 9th, 2010
Hello Everyone,
I’ve always said that, if possible, I would marry bacon if it would do me the honor (Smile).
Conversely, what I have never said is that I would drink bacon.
Clearly, however, someone somewhere must have said such a thing as the following article will attest.
And just in time for Christmas, too!! (Smile)

MS Office | Comments Off on Sounds Like Microsoft Office 2010, 2007, and 2003 To Me | November 4th, 2010
Hello Everyone,
I recently installed Microsoft Office 2010. I think it one of the most amazing suite of applications I’ve ever used.
I don’t know about you but one thing I like in all my applications is feedback with sound. You know, when an email arrives in Outlook, for example, a chime will play.
Just as in previous versions of Office, however, the “Provide Feedback With Sound” option is not automatically enabled. Read the rest of this entry »
