In addition to Amazon.com’s Text Buy It feature, which allows you to browse and purchase products, via text message, from your mobile phone, Amazon.com has also introduced Text Pay Me, a service that allows you to send, receive, and request money, via text message, from your mobile phone.

This is, without a doubt, ground breaking technology for both sighted and non sighted Smart Phone users, alike.

AMAZON TEXT PAY ME

With Amazon TextPayMe, you can send money to any mobile number or email address right from your mobile phone. Some ways in which you can use Amazon TextPayMe include paying your friends, splitting a restaurant bill, or paying your babysitter.

Question:
What is Amazon TextPayMe?

Answer:
Amazon TextPayMe enables users to send and receive money using their mobile phones. You can send and request mobile payment, check account balance, and perform other account management functions. You must activate your mobile phone number before you can take advantage of all of the mobile payment features.

Question:
How do I activate Amazon TextPayMe?

Answer:
To take advantage of all of the mobile payment features, you need to have a mobile phone that has the ability to send and receive text messages. You can find the link to activate your mobile phone number on the Accounts Overview page.

To activate your mobile phone:

1.
Log into http://amazonpayments.com

2.
Click the “Verify your phone” link in the “Notifications” box.

Note that in Step 1, you must enter your mobile phone number and mobile phone carrier, and then click “Continue”.  Please also note that in Step 2, the mobile phone number and carrier you entered will be displayed, you would also have received a text message containing your 2-word confirmation phrase on your mobile phone. Enter the 2-word confirmation phrase in the text box and click “Continue”.

3.
Create a 4-digit PIN for payment authorization and click “Continue”.

That is all there is to it! Once you finish the above steps, you’re ready to use Amazon TextPayMe to send and receive payment on your mobile phone.

Note that Amazon TextPayMe can only be associated with one mobile phone number. You cannot associate multiple phone numbers with your account.

How do I send money with my mobile phone?

Answer:
Using Amazon TextPayMe, you can send a payment with your mobile phone. A payment can be sent to a recipient’s email address or mobile number. You can send a payment by sending a text message to ‘AMAZON’ (262966). For example, to send $5 to a person whose mobile number is (206) 555-1234, you would send a text message to “AMAZON” (262966) and include the following in the text message body, minus the quote marks, “Pay 5 2065551234”.

After the payment text message is sent, you will receive a phone call from us on your mobile phone to ask for payment authorization. In the phone call, you will be prompted to enter the 4-digit PIN you created during the verification process to authorize the payment. If there aren’t enough funds in your account, you can choose to use a credit card to complete the payment.

Question:
What must I have in order to be able to claim money?

Answer:
You must have an Amazon Payments account and verify your email address in order to receive a payment.  When a payment is sent, both you and the sender will receive an e-mail and/or text message notification.

To accept an incoming payment:

1.
Log into your account.

2.
Click the “Claim My Payments” link under “Notifications.”

3.
Select “Accept Payment” from the drop down menu for the payment you want to accept.  (You must meet the payment’s claim requirement to accept it; see below for more details.)

4.
Click “Continue” to claim the payment.

You can choose to reject or do nothing to any incoming payments.  However, you are allowed to accept an incoming payment only if you meet its claim requirement.  You may be required to complete any of the following tasks to complete a claim requirement (1) verify email address, (2) activate Amazon Mobile Payments, or upgrade to a business account.

If you accept an incoming payment, the amount will be transferred to your Amazon Payments account.  If you reject an incoming payment, the amount will be returned to the sender. If you choose to do nothing, the incoming payment will remain unclaimed and the amount will be returned to the sender after 30 days.

What is a mobile PIN?

Answer:
Your mobile PIN is used to authorize a payment sent using your mobile phone. After a payment request is sent, you will receive a phone call from us where you will be prompted to enter your mobile PIN to authorize the payment.

Question:
How do I request money with my mobile phone?

Answer:
Using Amazon TextPayMe, you can request a payment from anyone with your mobile phone. To request a payment, you simply need to send a text message to “AMAZON” (262966). You can request a payment from someone’s email address or mobile number. For example, to request $5 from a person whose mobile number is (206) 555-1234, you would send a text message to “AMAZON” (262966) and include the following in the message body, minus the quote marks, “Req 5 2065551234”.

After the request payment message is sent, we will make a phone call to the mobile phone number receiving this payment request in order to ask for a payment authorization. The phone call will ask the user to enter a 4-digit PIN to authorize the payment. The recipient of the phone call may choose to authorize or decline this payment during the confirmation phone call. Both the sender and the recipient will receive a text message from us indicating whether the payment request was successful.

Note: If the payment request is not fulfilled or declined within 30 days, the payment request will be automatically cancelled. No further action is necessary.

Question:
Why can’t I accept payment requests?

Answer:
If you’d like to accept payment requests from other users, you’ll need to change your settings to reflect that preference. This feature is disabled by default to prevent unwanted phone calls. To enable the payment request feature:

1.
Log into your Amazon Payments account.

2.
Click on the “Edit My Account Settings” link.

3.
Click on the “Change my mobile security settings” link.

4.
Review your mobile security settings and click “Edit.”

5.
Place a checkmark the box next to “Accept requests for payment”.

6.
Click “Update Settings”.

Question:
How do I change my Amazon TextPayMe settings?

Answer:
You can manage your settings via the Amazon Payments web site (https://www.amazonpayments.com). Click the “Your Account” link and select “Edit My Account Settings” at the top of the page. From there, you can manage your Amazon TextPayMe settings.

Question:
What commands can I send to AMAZON Text Pay Me (262966) in a text message?

Answer:
Using Amazon TextPayMe to send payments is fast, convenient, and secure. It is as easy as sending text messages.
All messages should be send to ‘AMAZON’ (262966).

Get Help: “t”
Text “t” to receive TextPayMe help on how to use basic commands like “pay” or “bal”.

Send A Payment:  “pay” or “p”.
Text “pay”, then the dollar amount and the recipient’s mobile number.  Example, “Pay 5 2065551234”.
 
Check Your Balance: “bal” or “b”
Text “bal” to check your account balance. You will receive a message containing your account balance and your current send and receive limits.

To Use The Alias Feature: “alias ”, “alias ”
Text “alias foo” to set your alias to foo. An alias must start with a letter and cannot be more than 10 characters long. It also cannot be registered by another TextPayMe user.

Text “alias on” to allow other users to send money to you using your alias instead of your phone number. Text “alias off” to disable this feature.
 
To Use The Request Payment Feature: “req

Text ‘req 10 2065553421 4251113421’ to request $10 each from two users at once (those with the phone numbers listed). You can request money from up to 3 phone numbers in a single “request” command.

What wireless carriers are supported by Amazon TextPayMe? 

Answer:
You can use the following carriers with Amazon TextPayMe:  AT&T, Alltel, Boost, Midwest Wireless, Nextel Communications, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Virgin Mobile.
