Hello Everyone,

While those using Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional (touch screen) devices have always enjoyed the convenience of Microsoft’s Voice Command, with the upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard Edition, those using non touch screen devices such as the Samsung Blackjack II may now take advantage of this handy tool as well without having to purchase it as a separate product.

What is Voice Command?

Microsoft’s Voice Command is a highly-focused voice-based program that allows you to control various aspects of your Windows Mobile device.

The true beauty of this tool is that it requires no voice training, a big plus, to be sure.

Some of the things Voice Command can do include:

Announce your appointments for today or tomorrow.
Start any application installed by simply saying “Start” followed by the application name.
Dial a specific phone number.
Dial a specific Contact (”Call John at Work” for example).
Redial or call-back someone who phoned you.
Give the current date and time.
Announce the device’s wireless signal strength.
Listen to specific artists or albums from your music library.
Announce the device’s battery level.
Announce what phone calls you have missed.
Change between profiles such as Silent, Normal, Automatic, etc.
Voice Command can help with email and SMS (text) messages as well. It will read out some of the basics of your incoming email messages; who it’s from and the subject line.  With SMS messages, it will read the entire message for you.

It’s all here, waiting for you, in just one voice.

To enable Microsoft Voice Command on your Samsung Blackjack II Smartphone running Windows 6.1 Standard Edition:

1.
From the Start Menu, select Voice Command.

2.
Place a checkmark in the checkbox labeled “Enabled, Yes.”

3.
Configure the utility to announce the desired information.

4.
Save your settings.

NOTE:
To activate Voice Command from the handset, press and hold the second key from the left, on the bottom row of the QWERTY for approximately two seconds.

Enjoy,

Mark
