Hello Everyone,Â
I am delighted to relay that Samsung has released a software patch that fixes the email notification problem.
The following excerpt is from the notification patch update installation instructions:Â
The Samsung SGH-i907, known as the EPIX, supports multiple methods of notifications for events through visual and audio alerts. By implementing power saving techniques, a side effect that disables audio alerts was noticed. Samsung has developed a software patch which will now enable the EPIX to provide audible notifications alerts for your emails when the device enters an unattended power saving mode.
After downloading the patch (CAB file) to your computer:
1.
Locate and select the downloaded .CAB file and copy it to the computer’s Clipboard [Control+C].
2.
Establish an ActiveSync connection to the Epix.
3.
From within the ActiveSync window, from the Tools menu, select Explore. A window will open containing the file contents of the Epix.
4.
Copy the contents of the computer’s Clipboard (the software patch) into this window [Control+V].
5.
Disconnect the Epix from the computer.
6.
From the Epix, launch File Explorer and navigate to the My Documents Folder.
7.
Select the email notification fix file and tap the [Enter] key to begin installation.Â
8.
Follow the onscreen prompts. After successful installation, the device will perform a soft reboot upon user confirmation.Â
Click Here to go to the Samsung Epix SGH-i907 Download Page.
NOTE 1:
It may be necessary to restart the device multiple times before normal sound is restored.Â
NOTE 2:
This patch will need to be re-installed whenever completing a hard reset.
Good Luck and Enjoy,
Mark
