Hello Everyone,

This is a quick follow-up to my post entitled “EXTRA: Don’t Speaker To Me, iPhone 3GS” (Click Here to view).

In response to my little rant regarding the seemingly extremely sensitive auto-speakerphone issue, I have learned that, believe it or not, this occurs when the proximity sensors on the iPhone are incorrectly covered by non-3GS style cases.

That is, if the correct amount of earth, wind, and fire, cannot be detected by iPhone it will assume that the device is in a lateral position and thus, on goes the speakerphone.

Just so you know, I have the correct style cases for my iPhone 3gS.

What I found myself doing is inadvertently moving the phone away from my ear then, and only then do I experience what I like to think of as “speakerphone splashdown”.  So, as long as I keep the phone against my Erie Canal, even when I lie down, I experience no Speakerphone Splashdown.

Of course, holding the phone close to the face, in no way, prevents the problem occurring when one receives a second call while on the first; as one has to move the phone away from the ear in order to swap out the calls.

Because of this and, after all, just because, I continue to request from Apple that a Toggle setting be added in order for one to easily disable this feature.
